Telecel Faso, Burkina Faso’s third largest telecommunications company, is preparing to roll out its mobile financial services. It is owned by the Planor Afrique group, which is controlled by the Burkinabe businessman Apollinaire Compaoré. Telecel Money will initially be operational in Burkina Faso before being extended to Mali, according to information obtained by Jeune Afrique Business+.

“We will launch Telecel Money in April. The goal is to facilitate our customers’ access to mobile payments and value-added services,” explains the 66-year-old Burkinabe executive to Jeune Afrique Business+. “We will kick off this service in Burkina Faso before bringing it to Mali,” he adds. “We have already purchased equipment and trials are underway.”
