While the pandemic may have delayed elements of the construction project for the biomass plant in Aboisso, located 100 km from Abidjan and unprecedented in the region in terms of the power soon to be generated, it will not be allowed to stop it completely. According to information obtained by Jeune Afrique Business+, the company delivering the Biovea project – owned by EDF (40%), Meridiam (36%) and Biokala (a SIFCA subsidiary, with 24%) – is in “very advanced” discussions with industrial partners, and several contracts are to be finalised in the coming weeks. Breaking ground is expected to take place sometime next year.
