Olusegun “Segun” Ogunsanya, the new Nigerian head of Airtel Africa, is the first African appointed to head the mainland entity of Indian group Bharti Airtel, owned by billionaire Sunil Mittal. Ogunsanya, an electronic engineer and chartered accountant, has more than 20 years of experience in prominent positions. He will take office on 1 October, when his predecessor, Raghunath Mandava, retires—though he will continue to advise Mittal.
