Scatec’s Release Utilities Africa Holding secures $165m IFC loan and guarantee

The subsidiary of Norwegian energy group Scatec ASA expects approval on 31 July for a major loan to support the deployment of scalable solar energy and battery storage in sub-Saharan Africa, primarily in Central and West Africa. Targeted countries include Cameroon and Chad.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) loan will enable Release Utilities Africa Holding, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Release Management wholly owned by Scatec ASA, to target utilities in a region plagued by frequent blackouts and shortages.
