Dar es Salaam appoints former President of the African Court on Human Rights, Gérard Niyungeko, in the case against Farid Saab (FBME)

The Tanzanian state has just appointed the former President of the African institution, as arbitrator in its proceedings against Lebanese financier Ayoub-Farid Michel Saab, co-founder of the FBME bank.

A Burundian national, Gérard Niyungeko is an expert in African law after chairing the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights for twelve years (2006-2018) from its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. Niyungeko was also a member of the tribunal of the Preferential Trade Area of Eastern and Southern African States.
